Ecuador Amazon
April 28, 2014, I followed "Me to We" global experience office to Ecuador. After arriving in Quito which is the capital of Ecuador, we took a 9-hour bus and 2-hour boat trip, finally arrived inside the amazon jungle in the south of Ecuador. We started to work just the other day we arrived. Our assignment is to help the local women and children build a school house that could hold at least 50 students. It was quite hard to work in the weather which was 42 degrees and humidity was so high. I was impressive by the local women and chidren who worked together with us. Without any advanced tools, we could only carry sand by shoulders from the river shore; moving bags by standing in a line and pass them; saw the wood; dig holes, etc. At beginning, all of our team were extremely tired and can not breath regularly. After 10 days, inspiring by the local women and children, we all felt changes that tough tasks became easier and we could work much faster. Jungle mosquitoes welcomed us so much. We lived in cottages where only has two hours electricity per day. No internet and no cellphones made me feel so peace. I could not forget this trip which brings me to South America confronting different culture and lifestyle. It ended by the group dancing designed by those lovely girls and boys.
